Reflecting on WinterHope 2025

For the 24th year, WinterHope has been a beacon of hope in the coldest months of the year. Together, our partners: MES, PEN, Towers of Hope, and His Hands Ministry, have once again united with local communities to bring warmth, dignity, and care to those most affected by poverty and homelessness. To all those who got involved with us this year, your support has been evident throughout the 2025 WinterHope Campaign – Thank you!

This year’s campaign, running from 1 to 30 June, saw the nation step up in powerful ways:

  • 1,704 blankets donated
  • 1,011 bags of clothing collected
  • Over 56,676 meals and food packages provided
  • 15,704 safe sleeping spaces provided
  • R399,563 raised in financial donations over 5 weeks

A personal message from our partners:
“What really stood out for us is the growing awareness around the reality of homelessness and vulnerability. More people are beginning to understand that homelessness is not caused by laziness or lack of discipline — it can happen to anyone, at any time. It’s a ticking time bomb that we can’t ignore.”

The shift in perception and the outpouring of support — even from organisations we hadn’t directly engaged with — speaks volumes. It shows that our shared message is resonating and that people want to be part of the solution.

Thank You

To everyone who donated, shared, collected, and cared – Thank you! Your generosity warmed more than bodies this winter; it uplifted spirits and restored dignity.

From all of our partners: MES, PEN, Towers of Hope, and His Hands Ministry, we are deeply grateful. Let us continue walking hand in hand as we build a South Africa where no one is left out in the cold.
